IMPACT CHAINS - Towards a shared standard for complex risk conceptualization

IMPACT CHAINS - Towards a shared standard for complex risk conceptualization

Impact Chains (IC) provide a methodology to elicit, conceptualize, represent, and share a body of knowledge about process- and event-related risks within a given geographical and temporal scope. They are increasingly considered as a key tool in the most recent frameworks for climate and disaster risk assessments, but this leads in turn to an increasing need for a more systematic approach in the use of this powerful approach. In this document we aim therefore to provide all necessary information and guidance to allow for the development of more structured and consistent Impact Chains as actionable knowledge tool to be leveraged in the framework of comprehensive risk management.
