The Kurdish minority: linguistic rights and education in Turkey and Syria

The Kurds are the [largest nation without a state](https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2017/10/1/who-are-the-kurds#:~:text=Indigenous%20to%20a%20mountain%20region,%2C%20Syria%2C%20Iran%20and%20Armenia.), and their historical homeland is currently divided into Iraq, Iran, Syria and Turkey. The term "Kurdistan" to mean the land of the Kurdish people was already described in the [11th century](https://www.oxfordreference.com/display/10.1093/acref/9780198662624.001.0001/acref-9780198662624-e-3359?rskey=2GHfaB&result=2), which suggests that the Kurds have lived in this region since ancient times.
