MIDAS Prize 2025: Urtzi Urkizu’s journey in minority language journalism
Urtzi Urkizu, winner of the MIDAS Prize for Journalism 2025, has over two decades of experience in Basque-language media, having worked for Euskaldunon Egunkaria and Berria. He focuses on minority language media. Urkizu has published a book on ETB1, the Basque public TV channel, and is completing a second on how digital platforms affect minority language audiovisual media. After so many years working together, Martxelo Otamendi, the former editor of Berria, interviews the journalist he worked with for 26 years.
