Thin ice – When queer representation breaks through men’s sports
Sport is often framed as a site of community, identity, and collective belonging. Yet these ideals frequently fracture when confronted with queerness, particularly within male-dominated sports. It is within this cultural tension that the television series Heated Rivalry emerged, becoming one of the most widely discussed queer male-centered series to date for putting queer desire and rivalry in a traditionally heteronormative sporting context.
