Dictionary of (Non-)Politically Correct Words
In 2025, the Trump administration issued an order aimed at restricting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies, as well as limiting the use of related terms in official language. Because many of these concepts are central to the work of the Institute for Minority Rights, we decided to create a series of short texts explaining why they matter: why it is important to protect the rights and claims they represent, why research on these issues is essential, and how their recognition - or lack thereof - affects individuals, communities, and society as a whole. The short texts on key concepts such as minority, equality, diversity, discrimination, and ethnicity will be collected in a booklet primarily addressed to schools, NGOs, and the general public. The booklet will be presented on 21 May 2026 on the occasion of the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development (often abbreviated as the World Day for Cultural Diversity), a United Nations–sanctioned observance dedicated to promoting diversity and intercultural dialogue.
