Conradh na Gaeilge backs Irish unity at annual assembly

Conradh na Gaeilge (the Gaelic League) held its annual general meeting in Béal Feirste/Belfast over the weekend. Founded in 1893 to promote the Irish language, the organisation has long been central to language activism across Ireland. In a significant development, delegates voted to support Irish political unity – a position the organisation had not formally adopted in its 130-year history. The decision reflects both the growing momentum of the Irish-language movement, particularly in Northern Ireland, and wider political shifts on the island.
