Francisco Javier Romero Caro (PhD) is Senior researcher at the Institute for Comparative Federalism, Eurac Research with a project that deals with the role of equalization mechanisms as tools of integration in multilevel countries that have experienced secessionist challenges financed by the Province of Bolzano/Bozen under the Seal of Excellence Call. His research interests encompass the territorial distribution of powers in multilevel systems (with a special focus on federal states) and the territorial integration of national minorities in secessionist contexts. He won the XVII "Manuel Giménez Abad" Award for his book on the Canadian federal system and the integration of Quebec.
