Speaker in a Summer School

Our senior researchers Riccardo Barella and Carlo Marin took part as speakers in the Summer School on the Applications of Remote Sensing Techniques to Earth Surfaces, held in Florence from May 19–23, 2025.

The school was organized by IFAC-CNR and Ce.Te.M., with the support of IEEE and the Italian Society of Remote Sensing (AIT), and focused on the integration of artificial intelligence in Earth observation.

Barella and Marin delivered a two-part lecture: “Snow Cover Fraction Mapping from Optical Imagery: A Progression from NDSI Thresholding to Nonlinear Machine Learning Based Unmixing”, presenting the methodology developed at Eurac Research for snow cover detection using machine learning.**
