CHRIS Study Center

The CHRIS Study Center, located within the hospital in Silandro, was established in 2011 as part of the CHRIS population study (Cooperative Health Research in South Tyrol). It serves as the central facility for conducting all participant examinations and data collection associated with the study. During a visit to the CHRIS Study Center, participants undergo both routine health checks, similar to standard preventive examinations, and additional measurements of interest to researchers.

To support these activities, the center is equipped with specially designed examination rooms and instruments for blood sampling, electrocardiograms (ECG), blood pressure measurements, and other clinical and research tests, including height, weight, and evaluations of touch sensitivity and sense of smell. Additional spaces are dedicated to interviews and for completing questionnaires about lifestyle and health, registration, and offering a light breakfast to participants.

Day by day, a team of specially trained professionals carries out the examinations, ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety. The collected biological samples are sent afterwards to the CHRIS biobanks in Meran and Bolzano, where they are securely preserved and archived for further research. The data collected are transmitted to dedicated servers at the Institute for Biomedicine of Eurac Research and stored under strict security and privacy protocols for further analysis and scientific use.

With its facilities and daily operations, the CHRIS Study Center makes a significant contribution to population-based health research in South Tyrol and is a core component of the CHRIS study.
