TRANS-SAHARA Partners Advance Integrated Modelling for Sustainable Resource Management
The Center for Sensing Solutions recently organized a hybrid workshop the TRANS-SAHARA Project, bringing project partners together around a shared objective: advancing the development of the NEXSOL Intervention Design Tool. The tool aims to integrate diverse datasets and modelling approaches into a single, intuitive interface, supporting more informed and effective decision-making processes.
During the workshop, participants explored key modelling components that will contribute to the platform. These included the WEFE Nexus model prototype, designed to analyze the interconnections between water, energy, food, and ecosystems, as well as a land-use optimization model supporting more balanced and sustainable territorial planning.
The session also featured a demonstration of the NEXSOL visual analytics prototype, which translates complex modelling outputs into clear and accessible insights for decision-makers. In addition, results from the green water analysis model were presented, with applications in Living Lab locations to better understand water availability and ecosystem dynamics in real-world contexts.
By integrating these tools within a unified framework, the TRANS-SAHARA Project is progressing toward practical, data-driven solutions that can strengthen resilience and promote sustainability in dryland regions.
