Our new paper “Assessing the impact of terrestrial photography-derived roughness lengths on evaposublimation from seasonal snow in the Mediterranean mountains of Sierra Nevada (Spain)”, in collaboration with the University of Córdoba, has just been published in Journal of Hydrology: Regional Studies.
In this study, conducted in the Sierra Nevada mountain range in Spain, we introduce a novel method to estimate snow surface roughness using terrestrial photography and assess its influence on modelled evaposublimation—a key process in the energy and mass balance of snow in dry Mediterranean mountain environments with strong solar exposure that affects water availability in downstream areas.
