Imagine Peace – Creating Memories and Raising Sustainability Awareness: Mid Project Update
10.03.2026
The Imagine Peace project has now reached its midpoint, and significant progress continues to be made. Over recent months, preparations have been underway for the upcoming sustainability audits of the partner festivals. Most recently, the Copenhagen Light Festival concluded, during which almost 200 additional visitor survey responses were collected.
Here are some insights from the festival, along with a short video overview:
In the coming weeks, the project partners will meet for the next major step: the audit phase. During this stage, the insights gathered so far from the Copenhagen Light Festival will be jointly reviewed and analysed — following the same process already carried out for the festivals in Pula and Essen.
Attention is now turning to the next festival in the project, the Water Light Festival in Brixen/Bressanone, opening on 29 April. This event will provide another opportunity to engage with visitors, strengthen ties with the local community, and further explore how light festivals can contribute to sustainability from economic, social, and environmental perspectives.
The project spans a total of 30 months and aims to raise awareness of the sustainability of cultural events. With 14 months still ahead, the next phase promises further valuable findings and continued collaboration among all partners.
