About
Kathrin Runggatscher is a researcher at the Center for Advanced Studies and a PhD candidate at the University of Vienna’s Doctoral School of Social Sciences. Her work explores the complex interplay between science, technology and society, with a special focus on the influence of regional factors on knowledge production. She holds a Master’s degree in Science and Technology Studies, with a particular focus on Science Communication, from the University of Vienna.
Before transitioning to the field of Sociology of Science and Technology, Kathrin studied Molecular Biology and Biochemistry in Graz, Vienna, and Cambridge, and conducted research in the fields of cancer metabolism, epigenetics and chemical biology. In addition to her academic work, Kathrin is the author of a science column and has engaged in various Science Communication formats, including science podcasts and interdisciplinary art-science collaborations.
