About

I am a PhD Architect and Senior Researcher specializing in advanced building envelope technologies, with a strong focus on bringing innovative facade solutions from research to the market to drastically reduce energy use, CO₂ emissions, and material consumption in the built environment.

My academic background includes a PhD from the University of Navarra (2016–2020) within the Environmental & Technological Design in Architecture program, with a PhD thesis on "Adaptive Opaque Facades: a performance-based design method". My doctoral research was developed in an international context, including active participation in the COST Action TU1403 – Adaptive Facade Network, a Short-Term Scientific Mission at TU Delft (AF&P Research Group), and a guest researcher position at Politecnico di Torino (TEBE Group).

Since October 2020, I have been working at Eurac Research (Bolzano, Italy) within the Energy and Resource Efficient Buildings group. I currently lead the Building Envelope Technologies research area, coordinating a multidisciplinary team of around 13 researchers and engineers. My role combines scientific leadership, strategic planning, and team coordination to accelerate technology readiness and real-world deployment.

A core part of my work is securing and managing competitive European funding and translating ideas first into research outcomes, and then into scalable, industrially viable solutions. Since February 2023, I have been coordinating the EU Horizon Europe ZERAF project (EIC Pathfinder), overseeing the full innovation pipeline—from idea into concept development and experimental validation to stakeholder engagement and go-to-market strategy.

My research and innovation activities focus on:
• Adaptive and active building envelopes for resilient and energy-efficient buildings
• Circular and industrialized facade solutions for renovation, densification, and reconstruction
• Capacity building and knowledge transfer to industry, designers, and policymakers
I am particularly motivated by bridging research and industry, leading interdisciplinary teams, and creating the technical, organizational, and market conditions needed to deploy next-generation facade technologies at scale.
