Icing Wind Tunnel Development

This project aims to develop an icing wind tunnel designed to replicate complex atmospheric icing conditions with high fidelity following EASA regulation. The facility will integrate advanced flow control, temperature regulation and water droplet generation systems to accurately reproduce rime, glaze and mixed icing phenomena on the testing object. Emphasis will be placed on modularity and scalability, enabling both fundamental research and applied testing for UAVs, rotorcraft and fixed-wing aircraft. The outcome will be the design, testing, and iterative improvement of the concept, ensuring a robust framework for future implementation. Ultimately, the icing wind tunnel is intended to become an integrated testing service within the terraXcube, strengthening its role as a unique infrastructure for extreme environment research.
