Center for Advanced Studies meets Institute for Advanced Studies
Anja Marcher joined the IHS
Research Unit “Companies, Industries, Regions” as Junior Fellow
In October 2019, head of Center Harald Pechlaner and researcher Anja Marcher visited the Institute for Advanced Studies (Institut für Höhere Studien – IHS) in Vienna, a very prestigious research facility in the Austrian research landscape founded in 1963 by Paul F. Lazarsfeld and Oskar Morgenstern. The aim of the visit was to deepen and strengthen the cooperation between the Center and the IHS. During the visit, Harald Pechlaner and Anja Marcher introduced Eurac Research and presented the research conducted at the Center for Advanced Studies. The exchange was organized and introduced by Dr. Thomas König along with the institutes' director Professor Martin Kocher.
Eurac Research's Center for Advanced Studies already in 2018 started a cooperation with the Institute and welcomed Professor Martin Kocher as speaker at the lecture series "The Future of Europe" organized together with the Stiftung Südtiroler Sparkasse/Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio, in Bolzano. Moreover, in April 2019, Anja Marcher joined the IHS Research Unit "Companies, Industries, Regions" as Junior Fellow.
About the Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna:
IHS offers a broad range of social scientific and economic expertise and focuses on three priorities: economics, markets, and governance, polarization versus cohesion in society, and innovation and societal change. The priorities relate to the topics covered by ten different research units. The research unit "Companies, Industries, Regions", for example, analyses the economic importance of a location, region, sector, company or public institution in regional, national and global value chains, taking into consideration a wide range of issues, such as innovation, culture or interregional inequalities.
