On Sunday 2 August, a medical team from the Mountain Clinic – Eurac Research’s outpatient clinic for mountain medicine – will be on duty at the Toni Demetz Hut on the Langkofel Saddle, offering free blood pressure checks to anyone interested.
This initiative forms part of a series of awareness days focusing on high blood pressure in the mountains. The aim is to promote prevention and raise awareness of the importance of monitoring blood pressure when hiking at higher altitudes. High blood pressure is one of the most significant risk factors for cardiovascular disease. As it often causes no symptoms, it is important to regularly monitor blood pressure in conditions other than those of everyday life, such as at higher altitudes.
