Scientific Advisory Board

Manuela Celi is Associate Professor in the Design Department at Politecnico di Milano, specialized in Metadesign, Design processes, with a particular emphasis on Design Futures and Anticipation over the past 15 years. She actively contributes to the Design PhD Board and serves as the Rectors’ delegate for talent development at the ASP School.

Her research encompasses diverse aspects of design knowledge, metacognitive skills, and advanced design processes. Adopting a transdisciplinary approach, she explores the convergence of design with humanities and social sciences, investigating intermediate design products of significant cultural value such as trends and scenarios.

Through her publications in esteemed academic journals such as Futures and The Design Journal, she bridges the realms of research and education, cultivating innovative content and facilitating experimental activities for students.

Michael Stampfer is Managing Director of the Vienna Science and Technology Fund (WWTF), a private non-profit funding organisation for scientific research in Vienna. WWTF funds larger projects and group leader positions in Vienna in fields such as Life Sciences, ICT, Cognitive Sciences or Environmental Systems Research.

He holds a doctoral degree from the Faculty of Law of the University of Vienna and has many years of experience in the field of Austrian and international research and technology policy. Michael is one of the founders of the Digital Humanism Movement in Vienna and active in this field as funder, speaker, and organiser.

Elena Borin is Full Professor of Business Administration at Pegaso Digital University, where she also serves as the Rector’s Delegate for Internationalization. She is Director of the S.I.C.C.Ec. Laboratory of Excellence – Sustainable Innovation in Cultural and Creative Industries, Sectors and Ecosystems, and Co-Director of the Observatory on Sustainability Accounting and Reporting Practices in Cultural and Creative Ecosystems.

Previously, she was Associate Professor at Link Campus University and Director of the MSc in Arts and Cultural Management at Burgundy School of Business (France), where she also led the Arts and Cultural Management research group. She was awarded the Doctor Europeus title in 2016 and has received several prestigious honors, including the Research Award for Cultural Management and Policy (Brussels, Belgium, 2016), the IUSS Award for Best Doctoral Thesis in Economics (28th cycle) (University of Ferrara, Italy, 2017), and the Best Research Paper Award at the ENCATC Congress (Lecce, 2024).

She has served as Vice President of ENCATC since 2023 and has been a Board Member since 2021, acting as the President’s Delegate for Research Activities. She has participated in international scientific committees and academic juries and is a member of the Scientific Committee of the Eurac Research Center for Advanced Studies, the ENCATC Annual Congress, and the international university network INSIDE Modern Heritage.

She is a member of the Advisory Board of the journal Culture: Policy, Management and Entrepreneurship (Taiwan), of the Editorial Board of the European Journal of Cultural Policy and Management (where she previously served as Interim Editor-in-Chief), and of ENCATC Scholar.

An expert in international research projects, her research interests include management, cultural policy, public–private partnerships, and sustainability accounting and reporting. Her publications include volumes published by Springer, PIE Peter Lang, and Eurilink. She has frequently served as speaker and session chair at international scientific conferences.

Sabine Döring is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Tübingen and former State Secretary. She is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Center for Advanced Studies at Eurac Research and teaches at Bucerius Law School.

From 2009 to 2023, she held a Chair in Philosophy at the University of Tübingen as the first woman to do so, before moving in 2023 to the (then) Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) as State Secretary. In 2022, she was awarded the Opus Magnum Fellowship of the Volkswagen Foundation for her book project “Solidarisch handeln in Freiheit: Eine liberale Theorie des Gemeinwohls.” She will pursue this project at the University of Tübingen starting in the summer semester of 2026.

She is currently working on a book titled “Wissenschaftsfreiheit in der liberalen Demokratie,” to be published by Klostermann.

Birgit Renzl is the Chair of Management and Organization at the University of Stuttgart. She joined the faculty in March 2015. Her research projects are mainly concerned with knowledge management, strategic change processes and Leadership. She focuses on the organization of knowledge in companies, competence management and the implementation of Dynamic Capabilities. She has written more than 70 articles in academic journals as well as books and is part of the editorial board of “Management Learning”.

Prof. Renzl studied International Business Studies at the University of Innsbruck in Austria and at the University of Göteborg in Sweden. She worked in strategy consulting at Innovative Management Partner in Innsbruck, Austria. She was also research associate at the Department of Management with Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Hans H. Hinterhuber at the University of Innsbruck in Austria. She earned her doctorate in 2002 and qualified as a professor in 2006. She received the Dr. Maria Schaumayer foundation prize for he dissertation on knowledge-based interaction. For her research projects she spent her time at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, UK and at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. In 2009 she was appointed Professor of Strategy & Organization and Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration at the Privatuniversität Schloss Seeburg in Salzburg, Austria.
