Conferences
The Center for Climate Change and Transformation promotes conferences, workshops, and dialogue spaces that bring together researchers, practitioners, institutions, and communities working on climate change and transformation. Across our research areas, these events support scientific exchange, strengthen collaboration, and help connect knowledge with action.
Our conferences reflect the Center’s interdisciplinary profile, ranging from climate and disaster risk to water governance and socially just transformations. They create opportunities to share results, discuss emerging challenges, and build bridges between research, policy, and practice.
Upcoming conferences
SISC 2026 – 14th Annual Conference of the Italian Society for Climate Sciences
From 2 to 4 November 2026, Eurac Research will host the 14th Annual Conference of the Italian Society for Climate Sciences (SISC) in Bolzano. The conference will bring together researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and other actors working across climate science, impacts, and action, and highlights the role of Alpine regions as key spaces for climate research and adaptation.
Past conferences
SOS4CC – SOcial Sciences 4 Climate Change
The 2025 SOS4CC conference, held at Eurac Research in Bolzano on 4–5 September 2025, focused on the theme “From Knowledge to Action.” The conference highlighted the role of the social sciences in climate change mitigation and adaptation, socio-economic inequality, solidarity across differences, and inclusive and decolonial practice spaces. A Book of Abstracts was published alongside the event.
Adige Water Fair
Held at Eurac Research in Bolzano on 19–20 May 2025, the first Adige Water Fair was conceived as an inter-project and inter-institutional event focused on water management in the Adige River basin. It brought together stakeholders and applied researchers to discuss water use across interconnected sectors, including agriculture, energy, water quality, scarcity, and flood management, and produced a document of declarations of intent summarizing the discussions and contributions from the event.
INQUIMUS 2024
Hosted at Eurac Research in Bolzano from 4 to 6 December 2024, INQUIMUS 2024 focused on climate and disaster risk storylines and explored how storyline approaches can help address complex risks and heterogeneous forms of evidence in risk science, risk management, and risk communication. The workshop emphasized exchange across disciplines and sectors and is part of the longer-running INQUIMUS series on integrating quantitative and qualitative assessment methodologies.
Why these events matter
These conferences show how the Center works across disciplines and audiences: by advancing scientific debate, convening institutions and practitioners, and creating spaces where research can inform practical responses to climate-related challenges. Together, they illustrate the breadth of the Center’s work across climate risk, water systems, and climate-just societal transformation.
