On the second week of September the DROP project officially kicked off.
The project
Funded by Fondazione Cariplo, the project aims to develop innovative solutions and tools to support more effective flood risk management and strengthen the resilience of exposed communities.
The study area covers the municipalities of Gessate, Bellinzago Lombardo, Cambiago, and Masate, which were severely affected by the flood events of May 2024.
Over two intensive days, the project’s scientific partners met with the municipal partners and local stakeholders, who will act as the Advisory Board. The meeting represented an important first step in jointly identifying the needs of the affected communities and defining the most effective ways to ensure their involvement from the very beginning of the co-design process.
The project’s overarching objective is to promote territorial adaptation by combining structural, shared, and win-win measures with “soft” citizen-oriented measures, thereby enhancing the capacity to prevent and respond to future flood events.
