How does respiratory performance change after intense exercise in the cold and at high altitude?
13.05.2026
❄️🏃🌬️ We are looking for athletes for a new study!
Do you participate in endurance, team, or winter sports and are you aged 18 to 40? Take part in our study on respiratory performance after intense exercise in cold air and at simulated high altitude.
🎯 Aim: we want to investigate whether thin air, typical of high altitude, may increase exercise-induced bronchoconstriction (narrowing of the airways) during exercise in cold air.
📍 Where: @terraXcube hypobaric and climate chamber, Bolzano
📅 When: June 2026
🔬 What it involves: 3 visits, including an initial assessment to determine your V̇O₂max, and two experimental sessions with a very intense 8-minute running test at −15 °C, one at Bolzano altitude and one at a simulated altitude of 3,000 m. You will perform spirometry (lung function) tests both before and after the run test.
Further information can be found in the attached flyer.
