CRISP

The Climate Risk Planning & Managing Tool for Development Programmes in the Agriculture & Food Sector (CRISP) project aimed to develop a climate risk tool that considers the specific characteristics of agriculture and agricultural land use systems. The tool is (public release date: 06.10.2023) freely available, quick and simple to use, interactive and web-based for use by agricultural and rural development project planners and managers. The tool is strongly based on the impact chain method developed by the Eurac Climate and Disaster Research Group and published in the Vulnerability Sourcebook and its Risk Supplement (Zebisch et al., 2014 and GIZ and EURAC, 2017). The tool links to a range of external tools and databases that can be used for more in-depth analysis of specific actions.

The project was conducted in partnership with the Alliance of Bioversity International and the International Center for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT), GIZ (German Development Cooperation) and the University of Bolzano. The project is financed by BMZ (German Federal Ministry for Cooperation and Development ).

The tool provides an entry point for agricultural and rural development projects for an initial, simple and quick exploration of climate implications. Eurac used its expertise in the impact chain methodology to understand the relevant climate risks for agriculture in the context of a given project or program.
