Technological Innovation and Structural Organization of the Scientific Service of Eurac Research - Institute for Mummy Studies at NOI Techpark
The Institute for Mummy Studies is a highly specialized research center in the fields of Paleogenetics, Bioarchaeology, and the Conservation of culturally significant ancinént remains. It has become one of the leading centers in Europe and the only one of its kind locally. Since 2018, the institute has been based at the NOI Techpark in Bolzano (FESR1078-MummyLabs). Since then, there has been a steady increase in requests for scientific collaboration and services from colleagues and external organizations. The institute's current development suggests that service requests will continue to grow in the future. For this reason, with the MummyLab 2.0 project, we aim to: i) innovate the laboratories with new equipment and updated technologies to maintain an excellent level of research, and ii) create an organizational structure (Service Design) to optimize and ensure quality service. The service is self-financing and represents an additional source of income for the institute. The two-year project is divided into four work packages (WPs) and includes the recruitment of a specialized technician for the “service” and the creation of an open Virtual Lab Tour to explore the laboratories at NOI Techpark.
