New Geography

The aim of "The new geography of the Alps" project is to evaluate/forecast the effects of a new railway infrastructure on the alpine territory. A new infrastructure should not only be seen as a way to reduce travel times, costs and risks, but should also be related to the indirect territorial consequences (e.g.: local economy, land use, society, etc.). These consequences are not easy to be determined, but are fundamental in order to define the future growth of a given area.
