The Dolomite Pass Roads: Analysis of the road traffic situation, its impacts and deduction of management measures.
The project aims at identifying the overall traffic situation on six Dolomite passes and deriving suitable measures to achieve more sustainable road traffic.
It does so by a thorough analysis of the overall situation, analysing the traffic flows on the pass roads of Sella, Gardena, Campolongo, Pordoi, Fedaia and Costalunga and its effects on the environment and the visitors’ experience. During the project period, air pollutant and noise emissions are measured on selected locations as well as the traffic situation are measured. Furthermore, a survey on visitors’ experience and their acceptance of management measures on the passes is conducted. Finally, the project foresees interviews with local stakeholders and collects best practice examples for sustainable solutions in a comparable environment in the Alps.
