REHOME

The REHOME project aims at making Alpine rural settlements safer and more attractive, as they are currently harmed by the combined effects of long-standing socio-economic dynamics and the intensifying impacts of climate change (CC). The project addresses a need, shared by local experts, to share data and tools and to strengthen mutual expertise. Building on existing models, tools, and datasets, the project intends to: (a) improve spatial analysis tools to better support climate adaptation-oriented decision-making; (b) identify and test potential innovative indicators; (c) create a shared, open, and interoperable database to feed into these tools, which will be tested and refined in pilot settlements. The partnership will then develop (d) a transnational protocol to enhance spatial planning policies in the cross-border area. The project will also explore (e) CC adaptation options, focusing on the opportunities offered by public-private partnerships (PPPs) as tailored solutions for rural settlements. (f) Finally, the project will support the technical skills and political awareness of stakeholders through targeted training.
