The role of the Mobility of Care in rural areas - new publication

Transport planners mostly address the mobility needs of work and school commuters, while they tend to overlook the mobility we must do to fulfil so-called “care” duties. These include escorting young kids to school, accompanying old parents to medical appointments, making grocery shopping for the household, or running other necessary daily errands.

These mobility needs are addressed by the so-called “Mobility of Care” concept. At Eurac Research, we are conducting research on this concept, by investigating the patterns and needs related to this kind of mobility in rural areas specifically.
