About
Carla Maria Reale holds a PhD in Comparative Constitutional Law from the University of Trento. During her doctoral studies, she was a visiting researcher at Maynooth University, the Centre for Disability Law and Policy at the University of Galway, and the Department of Gender Studies at Lund University. Before joining Eurac Research, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Trento and the University of Genoa.
She has also collaborated with several European NGOs active in disability rights, gender equality, and LGBTIQA+ advocacy, and was appointed as external expert for the Council of Europe SOGIESC Unit, providing technical expertise on LGBTI rights, gender identity/expression, sex characteristics, and intersectional discrimination.
Her work focuses on gender, sexuality, disability, constitutional rights, equality and anti-discrimination law, and the protection of vulnerabilized groups. She teaches in multiple Italian universities, she is a member of the Biolaw Lab at the University of Trento and serves on the board of the University’s Centre for Interdisciplinary Gender Studies.
