PROPEL

In the PROPEL project, positive energy districts (PEDs) are developed further by expanding the energy system of PEDs including transport means, adding bio-based energy-carriers from the food system. Food systems generate more than one third – 34% - of all man-made greenhouse gas emissions, while transports correspond to one fourth of the CO₂ emissions. Adding innovative energy carriers via the food system and waste from green management connecting to the transport system via biogas energy, improving the possibility of off-grid operation contribute to making PEDs more viable from an environmental, societal and governance (ESG) perspective.
