Matteo Anderle Awarded the Stefan M. Gergely Prize for Excellence in Biodiversity Research

We are very pleased to announce that our colleague Matteo Anderle has been awarded the Stefan M. Gergely Prize, a prestigious recognition from the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) for outstanding doctoral theses in the field of biodiversity research.
The prize honors exceptional scientific achievements that deepen our understanding of biodiversity and natural ecosystems, from the origins of biological diversity to the functions of ecological communities.
Matteo received the award for his research on the influence of landscape factors on alpine birdlife and for his dissertation entitled: "Assessing the impact of habitat and landscape heterogeneity and land-use characteristics on mountain bird communities, and the effectiveness of birds as indicators of overall biodiversity."
The award ceremony took place in Vienna at the headquarters of the Academy of Sciences, where he was honored by the selection committee for his contribution to biodiversity research.
