Workshop on Cooperation Mechanism for the Carpathian Sustainable Tourism Platform

On July 9–10, the city of Brașov hosted the workshop Designing and Testing a New Cooperation Mechanism for the Carpathian Sustainable Tourism Platform (CSTP), organized by the municipality as part of the Interreg Central Europe Project Central Mountains.

Bringing together over 40 stakeholders, the event focused on the future of sustainable tourism in the Carpathians, emphasizing the importance of cross-border collaboration. It provided an opportunity not only to showcase the progress achieved through the Central Mountains project but also to gather valuable input and recommendations for future development.

A key focus of the workshop was the launch of the Carpathian Sustainable Tourism Platform (CSTP), a vital cross-border cooperation mechanism aimed at fostering tourism that is increasingly responsive to sustainability challenges across the Carpathian region.

During the discussions, Isidoro De Bortoli highlighted the need for greater inclusion of younger generations in decision-making processes and governance systems related to sustainable tourism. Amid growing environmental uncertainty, the effective management of tourist activity has become a pressing and timely issue, underscoring the need for stronger multilevel governance frameworks.
