Project work themes and outcomes

The final presentations demonstrated a strong capacity to integrate complexity and address real-world constraints. Key themes emerging across the projects included:

  • Industrialised façade systems, aimed at reducing installation time and maintenance costs while increasing adaptability over time
  • Improved operational and maintenance strategies, with a focus on long-term performance
  • Innovative business models, supporting lifecycle-based approaches to façade design and management

Together, these themes reflected the course’s overarching focus on extending the service life of façades through adaptability, while responding to sustainability and performance demands.

Connecting research, practice, and industry

The final unit also included site visits to PICHLER projects and Alpewa, allowing participants to engage directly with industrial production environments and applied façade solutions.

Additional technical contributions were provided through an inspiring lecture hosted at Alpewa by Pierpaolo Ruttico (INDEXLAB) and a hands-on certification session led by Luca Papaiz (glassAdvisor).

A collective journey

We want to extend our thanks to all participants for their continued engagement, collaborative approach, and the high quality of their final project work.

Special thanks go to Francesco Isaia, Course Director, and to all trainers, including the Eurac Research colleagues involved in the design and delivery of the programme.

Thanks are also due to FACE sponsors Alpewa, PICHLER projects, WICONA, and Domal, and to supporters Arup and glassAdvisor, for their essential contribution to connecting training with industry practice.

With the conclusion of this edition, FACE continues to serve as a platform for knowledge transfer, innovation, and professional growth—supporting the development of façade solutions capable of meeting the challenges of a more sustainable built environment.
