Steffi Misconel gets the prestigious Dr. Feldbausch Award by TU Dresden

The Faculty of Business and Economics at the TU Dresden, in collaboration with the Dr. Feldbausch Foundation, annually honors outstanding doctoral theses with the prestigious Dr. Feldbausch Award. This year, Misconel’s remarkable work has been recognized for its profound contributions to the field. The Award ceremony will be held the next 21 May in Dresden.
The focus of Misconel's dissertation, titled "Assessing the value of flexibility options for least-cost decarbonization pathways in sector-coupled energy systems," delves into the pivotal role of flexibility options. As the transition to renewable energy is vital for decarbonization, the weather-dependent nature of these sources necessitates enhanced energy system flexibility.
Misconel's extensive research explores solutions such as storage, demand response, and sector coupling—including heat pumps, electromobility, and power-to-gas-to-power technologies. These solutions are essential for balancing the grid and facilitating an efficient, cost-effective energy transition in Europe.
