The first six months of SOLARIS project for more competitive integrated photovoltaics in South Tyrol
Shaping the future of integrated photovoltaics: the first six months of SOLARIS project
27.06.2025
The first six months of the SOLARIS project are coming to an end! The project, which started in January 2025, aims to strengthen the competitiveness of the integrated photovoltaic supply chain in South Tyrol by developing innovative products for the integration of photovoltaics in built and agricultural environments. To achieve this, the project focuses on two complementary and interconnected lines of action:
- promoting the design and development of components optimized for multifunctional use in the photovoltaic industry, and
- demonstrating the potential of PV technologies integrated into architectural elements, for example in insulated glass units (IGUs) or inside greenhouses, through the creation of dedicated characterization methods and simulation models.
Led by Eurac Research, the project involves industry partners from South Tyrol such as glassAdvisor, Rasom glass, and SchriftArt. In these first months of activity, the partners have studied materials and printing processes for the creation of high-aesthetic colored photovoltaic module components and worked on refining optimization strategies to balance optical/functional aspects and energy production in customized photovoltaic modules.
