EU FESR E2I@NOI - Definition of a Laboratory System for the development, characterization and transfer of technologies enabling building "Energy-Intelligent Buildings"

The E2I@NOI - project aims to explore the characterization and diffusion on the territory of technologies for the implementation of "Energetically Intelligent Buildings" (EEI).

The innovation of the approach is based on the integration of methodologies for the characterization and development of EEI systems, for the involvement of users of such buildings and for the technological transfer at the local level.

Firstly, the laboratory infrastructure of EURAC and UNIBZ will be improved, and test methodologies, competences and complementary services will be developed to analyze how i) living comfort, ii) occupant behavior and iii) energy consumption influence each other, giving rise to the overall performance of an EEI. The combination of these indicators will allow to define the level of building intelligence and the ability to interact with the overall building user and then to verify the Smart Readiness Indicator.

The involvement of experts in cognitive sciences for the development of communication interfaces aimed at users and professionals and useful for integration into applications for mobile devices and BIM software, will allow these actors to be involved in the active and conscious management of EEIs. These solutions will be made available to developers and designers at the local level, as tools to promote the correct design and use of the building and the plants.

Finally, the opening of the laboratories to the local economy and the involvement of sector organizations (CasaClima, APA-LVH, CNA and Assoimprenditori) will allow the transfer of skills and solutions on the territory. The definition of a university course and of advanced training courses is planned for designers, architects and installers who include practical experience in the laboratory on archetypes of casing systems, generation systems (thermal and electrical) and heat distribution. IDM will also be involved in the activity of communication of activities and results, and networking with local companies possibly interested in the new skills developed. This will facilitate the use of laboratories by local companies and the development of new technologies.
