Green roofs for alpine ecological connectivity
The project GRACE evaluates the potential of green roofs in dense urban environments to enhance biodiversity, mitigate climate change impacts, and to improve ecological connectivity between urban and rural areas. Strategically integrated into spatial planning, green roof networks can expand habitats and act as ecological stepping stones for species such as butterflies, bats, and birds. Through biodiversity monitoring, microclimatic measurements, and spatial modelling, GRACE develops tools to support urban planning while fostering knowledge exchange and engagement activities involving stakeholders, citizens, and schools.
