STC Bosco Clima

The catastrophic effects generated by climate change are today more visible than ever before and the consequences are devastating in terms of environmental disasters, upheavals of the territory and socio-economic problems. From 2020 up today there have been 16 forest fires, 37 flooding events, 35 landslides and 18 road interruptions caused by extreme events.

The Institute for Regional Development in cooperation with other Eurac Institute supports the Verbano Valley Mountain Community and the Campo dei Fiori Park Authority (province of Varese) in the development of a Climate Transition Strategy (CTS). The CTS “Forest climate. Countering the domino effect of climate change" aims to think about the future of the territory in a resilient and pro-environmental way, starting from a key resource, the forest, as a tool for mitigation and adaptation to Climate Change.
