Reimagining South Tyrol’s municipalities with enterprise!

Climate change and biodiversity loss poses significant challenges to the sustainable development of cities globally. Ecosystem services like clean air, water, and environmental health are under pressure, increasing social inequalities in access to those services. South Tyrol's municipalities face these challenges too but can lead in climate adaptation and urban regeneration. They can use nature-based solutions (NbS), incorporating green, blue, and hybrid infrastructure. However, NbS face barriers like high initial costs and long-term benefits. Municipal budgets and resources are limited, while private companies have the financial and technical capacity to support NbS. Public-private alliances can help plan, implement, and scale NbS within the built environment in South Tyrol.

This workshop gathers municipalities, businesses, and experts to discuss public-private synergies to explore joint actions for NbS and urban regeneration in South Tyrol. Hosted by Eurac Research with the Municipalities of Bolzano and Merano, and part of the JUSTNature project, the event features expert talks and interactive sessions to promote "Nature-Climate Alliances" in South Tyrol.
