Are you a student or young researcher working on innovative façade components? We are launching two design contests with the goal to rethink how building envelopes shape comfort, sustainability, and aesthetics.
The contests are promoted in the frame of the Horizon 2020 MEZeroE project, coordinated by Eurac Research. Thanks to project partners Focchi SpA and Pellini SpA, participants have the chance to propose creative ideas for future façade components, presenting a clear concept and strong visuals.
Focchi Modular Façade Challenge
Participants are invited to design a smart, modular façade system that improves indoor comfort and energy performance. Ideas can include technologies like sensors, shading systems, or solar panels.
Who Can Participate
- University students (Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD, or Postgraduate Diploma)
- Recent graduates (within the past 2 years)
- Individuals or teams of up to 3 people
What to Submit
- A short submission form
- 1–3 visual files (sketches, renders, diagrams, etc.)
Prizes
- €1,000 cash prize for each contest
- Opportunity to collaborate with Focchi
- Visibility on the MEZeroE platform

Pellini MotionShade Idea Contest
This contest focuses on light and comfort. The challenge is to create a perforation pattern that shapes how natural light enters indoor spaces—enhancing wellbeing in schools, hospitals, offices, or homes.
Who Can Participate
- University students (Bachelor’s, Master’s, PhD, or Postgraduate Diploma)
- Recent graduates (within the past 2 years)
- Individuals or teams of up to 3 people
What to Submit
- A short submission form
- 1–3 visual files (sketches, renders, diagrams, etc.)
Prizes
- €1,000 cash prize for each contest
- Opportunity to collaborate with Focchi
