COMpetënzes Plurilinguistiches Ladin Tudësch Talian
The Ladin school system is one of the few truly multilingual education systems in Europe, in that teaching takes place in Ladin, Italian and German. Although the Ladin schools thus come closest to the multilingual reality in South Tyrol as well as to the language policy goals of the EU, the multilingual competences acquired by the pupils in the Ladin school system have not yet been appropriately captured in the monolingual-oriented national and regional language level surveys. Therefore, the aim of the COMPLeTT project is, together with the provincial evaluation office for the Ladin education system, to design and operationalise a practicable and sustainable method for surveying and evaluating both monolingual and, in the true sense, plurilingual competences in the written language, in order to be able to adequately document and evaluate the plurilingual development of pupils who live in a multilingual context and attend a multilingual school system. The focus of the multi-year study is on the third and final year of secondary school as an essential stage in the educational path of children and adolescents.
