Energy Transition Expertise Centre 2

The Energy Transition Expertise Centre 2 (ENTEC2) supports the European Commission in the implementation of the European Green Deal and the clean energy transition by providing high-quality technical, scientific, and analytical expertise. The project delivers studies, policy analyses, stakeholder support, and capacity-building activities across a wide range of energy transition topics, contributing to evidence-based policymaking and the achievement of the EU's climate and energy objectives.

The Energy Transition Expertise Centre 2 (ENTEC2) is a technical assistance project established by the European Commission's Directorate-General for Energy (DG ENER) to provide independent scientific, technical, and analytical expertise in support of the European Union's energy transition. The project contributes to the implementation of the European Green Deal, the REPowerEU Plan, and the EU's 2030 Climate and Energy Framework, while supporting the long-term objective of achieving climate neutrality by 2050.

ENTEC2 delivers expert services covering a broad spectrum of energy-related topics, including renewable energy deployment, energy efficiency, energy system integration, decarbonisation of industry and buildings, electrification, hydrogen and renewable fuels, energy infrastructure, flexibility solutions, digitalisation, innovation, and sustainable energy policies. The project also supports the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of European energy legislation and policy initiatives.

Activities include the preparation of technical studies and reports, policy analyses, data collection and assessment, stakeholder consultations, organisation of workshops and expert meetings, capacity-building activities, and dissemination of knowledge and best practices. ENTEC2 facilitates cooperation among European institutions, Member States, research organisations, industry, and other stakeholders to ensure that policy decisions are based on robust scientific evidence and practical expertise.

By providing timely and high-quality expertise, ENTEC2 strengthens the European Commission's capacity to develop effective energy policies and supports the transition towards a secure, competitive, affordable, and climate-neutral European energy system.
