The objective of the project from 2019 to 2021 is to contribute to the effective functioning of the Gagauzia autonomy within the Republic of Moldova and to enhance capacities for implementation of the autonomy’s competencies and functioning of institutional mechanisms that would better address institutional disputes and improve cooperation between the center and autonomy. Eurac Research provides scientific support, is scientifically responsible for academic programs and provides lectures in all 13 activities to be carried out in parallel. The activities involve different stakeholders in Moldova, are carried out in Chisinau and Comrat, and, on average, require 3-4 duty missions from Eurac Research employees per project year. In 2020 and 2021, the project is carried out online, also in cooperation with othe two Eurac Research Institutes (Institute for Regional Development and Institute for Applied Linguistics).

The project goes on until the end of 2024 and a new phase will start in 2025-2026. The focus is on the Parliamentary Working Group and on high-level capacity-building workshops at different levels of government.
