The role of Eurac Research

The researchers studied the climatic conditions in the area where the shelter is located and analyzed samples of the walls in the Hylab - Laboratory for the hygrothermal characterization of building materials - to determine the properties of the dolomia rock. They then entered the data into advanced simulation softwares (WUFI, DELPHIN, ProCasaClima) to recommend the best insulation solution. They also calculated the ideal thickness of the insulation and installed the solar-powered monitoring system that will measure temperature and humidity in the walls.
