Performance‑based development and validation of façade technologies

From simulation to real‑world testing

We combine advanced simulations, experimental laboratory testing and monitoring in real and demo buildings to evaluate façade performance at both component and building level. Assessments cover key aspects such as energy use, thermal comfort and integration with the building.

This approach allows technologies to be tested in controlled environments and real use conditions, and helps understand how to improve the design before market deployment.

Applied system integration in practice

Within the INFINITE project, we acted as a technical consultant, supporting companies in the development of an integrated façade panel that combines multiple technologies into a single, industrialised solution.

We supported key design choices, performance requirements and validation strategies, with a focus on system integration and real‑world applicability.

The integrated panel was then assessed through laboratory testing and monitoring in a demo building, allowing performance to be verified at both component and system level.

Value for the market

  • Reduced risk in the development of new façade technologies
  • Reliable performance data to support design and investment decisions
  • Support in moving from R&D to market‑ready solutions

From component testing to system‑level assessment

  • Design for testing and validation: structuring façade products and systems to support systematic testing, monitoring and comparison
  • Definition of performance indicators and evaluation frameworks for energy use, indoor comfort, costs and environmental impact
  • Comparative performance assessment of alternative façade solutions using consistent testing and monitoring methods
  • Replication and scalability analysis of façade technologies across different building types, contexts and building stocks
  • System integration expertise to assess how façade technologies integrate with prefabricated systems, building operation and user requirements
