Alexandra Tomaselli, a social lawyer, and Katharina Crepaz and Mirjam Gruber, two political scientists, are spokespersons for an interdisciplinary working group at Eurac Research which studies gender dynamics. We talked to the three of them about the most important stages of Gay Pride, the topics of intersectionality and pink washing, and what else they are up to with their working group.

Pride and prejudice sui generis 

The German and Ladin language groups in South Tyrol are among the best-protected minorities in the world. Passing on our experiences to less privileged ones is therefore a moral obligation, explains lawyer and autonomy researcher Marc Röggla. Günther Cologna, Asia expert and head of education & training, has been particularly concerned with the situation of an oppressed minority, namely the Tibetans in Chinese-occupied Tibet. And both share the view that around the world, times have been better for minorities.

The Center for Autonomy Experience began operations a year ago. Its goals are straightforward: provide competent support to the international delegations interested in learning about the province's unique autonomy model and to build up a network. The center’s launch coincided just in time with the Pandemic resulting in the cancellation of the delegation visits proposed until now. However in the face of adversity, ingenuity thrives and it didn’t take long until center head Marc Röggla, moved the "experience" into the digital realm with CAE podcasts, e-learning, web and social campaigns.

Gehen oder bleiben: Die Option von 1939 ist eines der dunkelsten Kapitel in der Geschichte Südtirols. Dazu haben Autonomy Experience, die Vereinigten Bühnen Bozen und das Institut für Zeitgeschichte der Universität Innsbruck einen Podcast produziert und Ende November vorgestellt. Darin geben Südtiroler Zeitzeuginnen und Zeitzeugen Einblicke in ihre Gefühlswelt und erzählen aus erster Hand von ihren Erinnerungen, während Fachleute historisches Hintergrundwissen beisteuern. Nun kann die Südtiroler Bevölkerung die Forschung unterstützen und einen Beitrag zur Südtiroler Erinnerungskultur leisten.
